Dr. Robin Westmacott, C. Psych.

I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2012. I offer assessment and treatment of a range of psychological difficulties including depression and anxiety disorders.  I also provide psychological treatment for problems in coping with general stress, self-exploration, return-to-work/school issues, relationship problems, and parenting stress (particularly parenting adult children). I have worked with 2SLGBTQI+ communities since 2011 providing therapies targeting minority stress. I work with adult survivors of childhood abuse utilizing an integrative approach. I am primarily a humanistic, experiential therapist and my work is grounded in attachment theory, integrating emotion-focused and cognitive-behaviour therapies.

I am committed to evidence-based assessment (meaning that I use research and theory to inform the methods and measures used in the assessment, and the assessment process itself). My assessment philosophy balances comprehensiveness with clinical utility. Areas of specialty include adult presentations of intellectual disability, personality, neurodiversity (ADHD and Autism), gender incongruence (gender dysphoria); I am a provincially approved pre-surgical assessor for people who require chest and genital surgeries. I am also accustomed to completing assessments for individuals out of general scope who desire vasectomy or hysterectomy.

Personality, neurodiversity, developmental experience, values, and needs inform treatment decisions. My job is to help you come up with a comprehensive plan to improve your life based on what we discover about you. I will help you determine your options for treatment, and how to approach the problem step by step.
